Living in a Snowball in Philly

So we had a gas leak and our heat was shut off for 5 days! It has been a little bit of a nightmare trying to keep our kids and house warm with space heaters and dealing with one of Philly's biggest storms! The glass on our fireplace door broke off and so Marshall had to wrap foil around it to keep the fire going since it was our only source of heat for our downstairs---plus it just looks so classy....awesome.
We FINALLY got our heat turned back on and it turns out that our Landlord needs to buy a new furnace......we haven't heard anything yet, but we hope he buys one before our heat goes out again.....50 degrees is just not a suitable living environment for two young kids and during a huge storm!
Everything shuts down here when it snows like this and kids are out of school and mom's are drivin crazy trying to think of ways to entertain kids. I have never done so much baking and cleaning than I have in these last few days. My husband asked me why I was cleaning so much because it wasn't a Friday. He said, "are you bored? or do you just like cleaning?".....that's when I switched to baking and he came in the kitchen and just started laughing. Hey, you find things to do when you are stuck in the house all day taking breaks from unburying cars and shoveling snow!:) Anyway, here are some of the things we have been up to lately!
Best buds passing the time before the big storm.....she loves to copy anything he does. Pretty sure she had more fun coloring on the table than the paper! Admiring the view from my front porch
And it just kept on snowing!
They were so excited to get their snow stuff on and go play outside!
Savana's favorite part was eating the snow....good thing it wasn't yellow right?
When it snows this much you just have to build a snowman....it's just a law or something and a good way to entertain kids!
So proud of Mr. Snowman!
Savana was reaching her limit here...naptime was calling.:)
Just love this pic---is he cold? constipated? It's anyone's guess.
Gettin cold....time to go back in for more hot chocolate!

I am glad that you were able to survive. It sounds like you had plently of things to keep you busy and sane. I would love to get a storm like that out here. Love the pic of Marshall's face. Classic caption KJ. I hope that your landlord gets everything figured out soon. Love, Todd

WOW! lots of snow. I remember in NJ when it snowed and how everything shut down b/c they arent used to it (like we are here in UT). Adn what a nice mommy to build a snowman with them...i need to get my butt in gear and help my kids in the snow- i just dont like the cold or snow! It is my goal though at some point this winter! Anyway, hang in there with all the snow! And hope you get your heat fixed!
